1980 Spanish embassy massacre trial resumes in Guatemala

The trial against Pedro Garcia Arredondo for the 1980 burning of the Spanish embassy in Guatemala, which caused the death of 37 persons, resumed on Friday. A Spanish foreign service official called by plaintiff Nobel Peace Prize winner Rigoberta Menchu testified that Madrid broke diplomatic relations with Guatemala because it violated international treaties by forcibly entering the embassy.
