Commuters are often unaware that they needn't get off a train to register a complaint if a crime occurs. Either the RPF staffer escorting the train or the ticket examiner can file an FIR on forms provided to them. The case is later sent to the Government Railway Police (GRP) for investigation but now a register will be maintained at every RPF outpost for keeping a check on cases reported by commuters on running trains.
