German Chancellor Angela Merkel called on Germans to stand together in the face of the Paris terror attacks and not allow society to become divided by fear. In an address to German parliament, Merkel called for new data retention laws to help prevent similar attacks in Germany. However, the opposition Greens say that would mean giving up the same freedoms that the country wants to defend.
