While Peru has legislation mandating the labeling of food products, for example, to indicate the presence of dyes, trans fats or GMOs, enforcement is spotty and many items are sold without the corresponding labels. Misleading advertising is also rampant. For businesses, profits are the bottom line. Consumer advocates are concerned over the negative effects on the population's health. Rael Mora reports from Lima.
