Surfing Oregon's Bitter Cold, Big Waves | Big-Wave Addicts, Ep. 2

br Neither weather, distance nor conditions will keep Eric Akiskalian and Keith Galbraith from getting a fix of their big-wave addiction...br br In this episode, Eric Akiskalian and Keith Galbraith gear up for an 8'-10' @ 20 sec. NW swell. Eric who lives in Gig Harbor, WA monitors the swell and weather very closely and decides it's worth the road trip, packs his gear and heads to Lincoln City, Oregon for a five-hour road trip. br br The one thing about surfing big waves in the Pacific Northwest is the unpredictable and wild weather conditions that can really make things difficult when it comes to monitoring a potential swell. Sometimes you only have a 1-2 hour window in between foul weather, wind changes, dense fog and extreme tides. br br On Oct. 21, 2013 Eric and Keith woke up to dense fog and couldn't see the reef which is 12 a mile offshore. They rallied together and decided to drop a ski and do a swell and fog recon. br br Once they got past the first sandbar beach break they still couldn't see the reef, so they came back in for safety reasons and decided to play the waiting game. At around 4:00 p.m. the sun finally broke through and they were able to get a short but fun session in.br br Director: Eric Akiskalianbr Producer: Eric Akiskalianbr Athletes: Eric Akiskalian and Keith Galbraithbr br br Surfing Oregon's Bitter Cold, Big Waves | Big-Wave Addicts, Ep. 2br br -------------------------br EpicTV produces hundreds of EpicTV original extreme sports series, with new video releases every day.
