To me this is music from heaven. Gunhild’s vocal is astonishing, she follows and can bring out similar emotions Billy Holiday could create.
Louis recorded this tune with Jack Teagarden on trombone and one can hear from the excellent trombone solo by Gerd that she has listened to that recording. The final ensemble part is also played in the “All Stars” manner and finished with a high note by Gunhild with that Louis feeling. Regular folks will certainly like what this band can do with their knowledge of the idiom combined with their technique and talent. All my Jazz musician friends are always perplexed by this group’s performances.
