The Commission for Historic Clarification presented its report entitled "The Memory of Silence" 16 years ago. In the report, the commission detailed the atrocities perpetrated against the population by State security forces during the county's internal armed conflict. The civil war left 45,000 disappeared in its wake and about 200,000 unidentified bodies in clandestine cemeteries.
