After approx. 2000 years of Jewish diaspora the State of Israel was founded in 1948. In conjunction with the plan of the League of Nations United Nations parts of Mandatory Palestine were transformed into a national home for the Jewish people. The foundation of Israel also meant the first Israeli-Arab military conflict.
