Petrocaribe, the Caribbean regional energy alliance sponsored by Venezuela, launched the Hugo Chavez Gas Plant in the island nation of Grenada. At the opening ceremony, Venezuelan Vice President Jorge Arreaza said the plant is another example of how the energy pact benefits the region's inhabitants by helping ensure sustainable development.
