An annual beauty pageant was recently held at Qingdao University in China for candidates competing for the chance to be hired as flight attendants.br br The “National University-rank of Modeling and Flight Attendants Professional Promoting Oriental New Faces Models Beauty Pageant - Eastern Preliminary Division” is an annual competition that began in 2006, according to The World of Chinese.br br Shanghaiist reported that many university students and models from all across the country competed in the pageant, while the competition’s objective was to not only find prospective flight attendants, but the new “Face of Oriental Beauty.”br br The requirements of China Southern Airlines, according to Business Insider, state that:br br - Women must be 25 or youngerbr - They must be singlebr - They must be between 5' and 5'9"br - Their legs cannot be "X or O shaped"br - There are also restrictions on their weight-to-height ratiobr - No glasses or visible scarsbr br However, many of those who are hired as flight attendants quit soon after when they realize the job doesn't live up to their expectations, according to the Global Times.br br "The job description doesn't tell you that you need to scrub the toilet," Wang Cheng, an administrator at Civil Aviation University of China said, according to Shanghaiist.
