Eight children, aged 18 months to 15 years, were found fatally stabbed in the northern Australian town of Cairns on Friday morning.br br br Authorities were notified of the stabbing at 11:20 a.m. Police officers were dispatched to the house in the Cairns suburb of Manoora, where they found the children’s bodies and a 34-year-old woman with stab wounds to the chest and neck.br br br The Cairns Post reported a the 20-year-old brother of the murdered children came home and found the eight bodies in the house. br br br The woman is believed to be mother of the children. She is “assisting police with their inquiries” and “not in custody”, police told the Cairns post. She is being treated in hospital and is in a stable condition.br br br An injured man has also been taken been taken to hospital in connection with the incident.
