A Texas weatherman was shot multiple times outside a central Texas television station on Wednesday morning. Police are still searching for the shooting suspect.


Patrick Crawford, the morning show meteorologist at Waco NBC affiliate KCEN-TV and a veteran weatherman, was in his car after having just filmed the morning’s broadcast. It appears that he was talking to an unknown man in the parking lot. Crawford, a Plano native, apparently exchanged words with the suspect before the shooter pulled a semi-automatic handgun and shot at Crawford several times.


Crawford was able to drive away from the station and flag down a construction worker who called for help. He was taken to a local hospital where he underwent surgery.


The shooter was described as 30 to 35-year-old white male with a receding hairline. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans at the time of the shooting.


The TV station was put on lockdown after the shooting.


Police said they have taken a man who was held up inside a house into custody. They say he is a person of interest in the shooting, but are not saying is he is the shooter.
