Pele’s condition is improving after he was relocated on Thursday to an intensive care unit at Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo following an operation to remove kidney stones earlier this month.br br A common technique for removing kidney stones uses a thin viewing scope with a probe inserted into the patient’s urethra and bladder and into the ureter.br br Once the stones are located, the probe breaks them into very small pieces using a laser or similar device. The pieces are either passed naturally or extracted using a small basket.br br Pele is now receiving renal support treatment to help his kidneys filter waste products from the blood.
