Argentina: Grain Exports Down

Argentine grain exports were down 40 in the first week of April compared to the same period last year. Even though this year's harvest is 15 higher than in 2014, the US$3.4 billion in year-to-date export earnings from grain sales was 32 below last year's figures. Part of the problem is that large agribusiness is withholding part of the soybean crop, waiting for an upturn in international prices. Farmers' organizations are seeking a comprehensive agrarian reform that would reorganize agriculture to attend to the nation's needs. Leonel Poblete reports from Buenos Aires.
