Brazil: Police Repress Teachers in Opposition-Held State

Police in the Brazilian state of Parana, ruled by the opposition, used tear gas and rubber bullets on striking teachers yesterday. At least 150 teachers were injured in the clashes during the second day of demonstrations against the right-wing state government's plan to modify pension policies. A final vote on the proposed measure is expected today.
