Houston police have arrested a 16-year-old after he was caught on camera stealing a 2-year-old's iPad.

The robbery happened on April 19 at parking lot in front of a washateria in northeast Houston, KHOU reports.

The teen suspect was caught on surveillance video, knocking down a toddler and running off with the child’s iPad.

"They didn't have to touch him. He's two. Who steals from a two-year-old? Get a job," said the boy's mother, who didn't want to be identified, KPRC reports.

Houston police released the video to local news outlets when the boy’s father realized his son committed a crime.

The suspect thought he made a clean getaway, until his father notified his mother, who immediately called authorities.

"It's pretty deplorable when the victim is a two-year-old child," Senior Officer Ken Nealy told KHOU.

Houston police said that the teen was arrested Tuesday evening after he was turned in to police by his parents after they saw surveillance photos on the news.

The child’s parents were grateful to the teen's mom for doing the right thing.

"I asked the officer last night, 'Tell her thank you. I appreciate it as a mother. I would do it,'" the boy's mother told KPRC.

The 16-year-old suspect's name is not being released because he is a juvenile.
