Reports said the gunman likely took his own life shortly after the attack early on Tuesday (June 10). The shooting prompted a mass lockdown and evacuation at the second-largest high school in Oregon.

The teen suspect fired three shots at the Reynolds High School gym just after 8 a.m., killing one student and injuring a gym teacher who sustained a bullet wound to the hip. Witnesses said that the sound of several gunshots sent teachers running through the halls, urging students to take cover inside classrooms.

Immediately after the shooting, the gunman reportedly fled to the bathroom where the responding police found the suspect slumped on a toilet. Using a robot with a camera to investigate the police found that suspect had likely taken his own life in the bathroom stall.

After the school was place on a lockdown, students were bussed from the school to a nearby supermarket parking lot where they reunited with their parents. Troutdale police chief said another person was taken into custody when the police found a gun in their possession during the evacuation.
