An 18-year old boy from Taiwan died after being locked up by his cult member mother after she suspected he was taking drugs. Zhan chun-yu, from Changhua, Taiwan, was locked up at the headquarters of the Sun-moon communion and was beaten with bamboo sticks and a hose for 18 days, while living on only water and congee. The boy eventually passed away from malnutrition.
