Low-wage workers in Los Angeles, California, are celebrating a victory in the fight for better living conditions. On Tuesday night the City Council voted 14-1 to approve a minimum wage hike from $9 to $15 an hour. Businesses with more than 25 employees must implement the increase by the year 2020. The vote comes on the heel of similar measures passed in San Francisco and Seattle.
