After meeting future producing partner, Byron Kennedy, at a summer film workshop, the pair produced short films to local acclaim, then decided it was time to tackle a feature.br br Teaming with writer James McCausland, the trio drew inspiration from the 1973 oil crisis, horrified by the violence erupting at local gas stations. Miller pitched a dystopian futuristic setting for the film and Mad Max was born, but only if they could raise enough money.
