Despite tensions provoked by the deaths of 27 FARC guerrillas as the consequence of last week’s bombing raids by the Colombian government, peace talks in Havana have resumed with both the guerrillas and the government calling for calm. FARC spokespersons reaffirmed their belief that peace is necessary and possible, but say that a bilateral ceasefire is absolutely necessary for this to occur.
