The U.S. led invasion of Afghanistan cost 150,000 lives, most of them civilians, and left 860,000 people injured according to a report entitled "The Cost of War" issued by Brown University of Chicago. The report indicated that the continued presence of U.S. troops in the country only exacerbates the situation.
