Fishermen have been struggling in the fishing industry and finally with rising debts and decreasing catch. The fishing industry in Daman is facing a drop due to water pollution. says the superintendent of fisheries for Daman and he blames the polluted effluents from the industrial estate for this huge loss, they are least polluting and that only a large concentration of effluents from the industrial estate is responsible for pollution. The fish have migrated due to polluted effluents being released in the sea. A prized catch like the Gold fish,Dara, Pomphret, leather fish and Kut have decreased drastically.
