Colombia sent a letter of protest to the Venezuelan government over the Venezuelan maritime boundary claims. Colombia’s Foreign Minister Maria Angela Holguin said a negotiating committee should be established to debate the disputed border. Venezuela has rejected Colombia’s position and called for dialogue on the matter before the Binational High Level Commission, or COBAN, created in 1990.
