Madho (Sanjeev Kumar), an honest small town resident, faces legal action as he is caught stealing medicines from a shop for his ill mother. The kind-hearted and benevolent judge understands the situation and awards minimum punishment to Madho offering him to run a grocery shop in a village Sonpur. After his term in prison is over, Madho moves to Sonpur and begins a new life as a grocer. He wishes to lead the rest of his life by adhering to principles of truth and honesty. But his business competitors pose challenges in his way. Meanwhile, he meets the village girl Imli (Leena Chandavarkar) and they both fall in love with each other.Will Madhav be able to lead the rest of his life by sticking to his chosen principles?
