Colombian Gov't, FARC Reach Major Agreement to Deescalate Conflict

The Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) have reached a major agreement to deescalate the conflict. The agreement, which comes on the heels of the rebels' declaration of a 1-month unilateral ceasefire beginning July 20, is the first time since peace talks began that the government has agreed to a deescalation of the conflict. The agreement will be reviewed in 4 months.
