Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro signed a document pledging to respect the results of the December 6 elections regardless of whoever wins. The document reaffirms the role of the National Electoral Council in organizing the vote. Maduro regretted that the country's right-wing opposition has refused to sign the pledge and accused them of planning post-electoral violence. He said a plan to counteract coup attempts would be implemented immediately following the elections.
