A priest in El Salvador has been suspended by the Roman Catholic Church pending an investigation into his alleged involvement in the sexual abuse of a minor that took place around 25 years ago. The victim, who is now 42 years old, filed the charges with the Salvadoran government. The case will not be pursued in a court of law however, due to the statute of limitations. A spokesperson for the Church expressed regret for the incident and asked for forgiveness from the victim and from society.
