Blooms of phytoplankton - microscopic, plant-like organisms - occur in the North Atlantic with a rather dependable regularity, but they can sometimes be difficult to see as weather gets in the way.

Data from blue, red, and green bands and chlorophyll was gathered, combined, and processed, resulting in mesmerizing and sweeping blue and green swirls.
