Akbar was the Mughal King and Birbal was the (Wazir-e Azam) of the Mughal court in the administration of the Mughal emperor Akbar. He was one of his most trusted members along with being a part of Akbar's inner council of nine advisors, known as the navaratna, a Sanskrit word meaning nine jewels. Birbal was one of only a few persons other than Akbar that were Din-i-Ilahi believers.
Birbal's duties in Akbar's court were mostly military and administrative, but he was also a very close friend of the emperor, who appreciated Birbal for his wit and wisdom, often involving humorous exchanges. These and other stories have become part of a rich tradition of folklore and legend.

So here check out one story "The Strange Letter"

एक दिन दरबार लगा हुवा रहता हैं । तभी अगबर सुख्देव से कहते हैं आप हाली में इरान से लौटे हैं इस बारे में हमे कुछ बताइ ये कैसा रहा सफ़र । सुख्देव अगबर से कहते है सफ़र काफी अच्छा रहा और शाही इरान ने आपको अपना सलाम भेजा हैं । उन्होंने बीरबल को भी याद किया था । तभी किस कि सल्तनत सबसे बेहतर हैं इस के उप अगबर और बीरबल में बेहेस हुइ । अगबर बीरबल को दरबार से निकल जाने को कहा । अगले दिन अगबर को बीरबल के साथ किये गए व्यवहार का दुःख होता हैं । वे सिपाई को बीरबल को फ़ौरन दरबार में आने का सन्देशा देने कहते हैं । कुछ देर बाद सिपाई दरबार में आता हैं । वो बताता हैं कि कोई नहीं है घर पे, बीरबल के घर पे ताला हैं । अगबर सिपाई को बीरबल को ढूंढ कर उसे दरबार में ले लाने कहते हैं । पर बीरबल का कही पता नहीं लगा । तीन महीने गुजर गए पर बीरबल नहीं लौटा । अगबर बहुत बेचैन और उदास रहने लगे । तभी अगबर सोचते हैं कि बीरबल किसी राजा महाराजा के पास ही होगा और हम सब राजाओ को खास खबर भेजेंगे जो सिर्फ बीरबल ही समज सके । जो रजा सवाल का जवाब देगा उसी के पास बीरबल होगा ।
