The book of Hebrews tells us that in order for Jesus to be our High Priest, the law had to be changed. Under the old law, the law of Moses, all priests had to be from the tribe of Levi (which Jesus was not, he was from the tribe of Judah), and the high priest had to be a direct descendant of Aaron.
