Hero for a Day 2014: Cleaning Up an East Coast Wetland

As part of an annual Earth Day event, this clean-up benefitted fish and wildlife in the 47,000-acre Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge, just 14 miles from Atlantic City. Hundreds of volunteers, including hunters, anglers, Scouts, and families, moved washed-up trash along an eight-mile stretch of marsh road that circumnavigates part of the refuge.
