Supertyphoon “Yolanda” (international code name: Haiyan) br made its first br landfall in Guiuan, Eastern Samar on br November 8, 2013, br packing maximum sustained winds of br 314 kilometers per br hour, with gusts up to 379 kph. Itbr battered the Visayas region, particularly the provinces br of Eastern Samar, Western Samar, Leyte, Biliran, Cebu, br Bohol, Capiz, Iloilo, and Antique, and also Palawan. br One of the strongest tropical cyclones ever recorded,br Yolanda killed about 6,300 people, injured 28,689 and br left 1,061 missing.
