'Justice for Flint' fundraiser raises over $145,000

Two of Hollywood's most talked about directors decided to skip out on the Oscars Sunday for a bigger cause.br Ava DuVernay, director of the Martin Luther King biopic, "Selma," co-organized a fundraiser for Flint, Michigan with Ryan Coogler, director of "Creed," and the upcoming "Black Panther."br The pair organized the event through Blackout For Human Rights, a collective of activists and celebrities co-founded by DuVernay and Coogler.br The "Justice for Flint" fundraiser, which raises money for the embattled citizens of Flint, Michigan plagued by contaminated drinking water , was held the same night as the 88th Annual Academy Awards.br The #JusticeForFlint fundraiser featured live performances from high profile artists like Stevie Wonder and Janelle Monae, stand-up from MC Hannibal Buress, poetry, and testimonials from citizens affected by the contaminated drinking water.
