Transformer explosion 12-Aug-16. br I saw a transformer on my way home the other night. Thought it might be cool to film it's self destruction. br Huge amount of birds perched on a powerline make the transformer "explode" as they take off. br energizing a 120240 wyedelta bank. 7200 floating high side. fuse and arrestor blew when third cutout was put in. wye point not grounded. Chamberlain, SD br I tried to keep the camera on the explosion, but yeah, I was a bit concerned for my safety.
