Volcanoes are both terrifying and fascinating, and, thanks to the United States Geological Survey those wanting to get an up-close look at an angry mountain need not put themselves in danger.
It has strung together 11 minutes of footage from Hawaii highlighting the Halemaʻumaʻu Crater’s active lava lake.
The bubbling and splattering locale is located atop the Kīlauea Volcano and has been fuming and seething since the spring of 2008. 
Also featured in the various clips are images of scientists and explorers at work both in the observatory and out in the field.
