In this part, we play as the Plumber, Hero, and Resident of the Mushroom Kingdom, Mario!\rbr\rbrWith Mario Transitioning into Melee from SSB64, he has received a mix of buffs and nerfs (neither being buffed or nerfed), yet is a weaker character overall compared to his SSB64 incarnation.\rbr\rbrBuffs:\rbr+ New Forward Smash that is stronger, faster, has more range, & does 1 more damage\rbr+ Increased WalkingDashing Speed\rbr+ Wavedash as another movement option\rbr+ Faster Up Tilt for combos\rbr+ Up Smash has faster start upending lag\rbr+ Faster Down Smash\rbr+ Neutral Air has higher knockback scaling\rbr+ Faster back aerial with less start up lag\rbr+ New Forward Aerial can meteor smash\rbr+ New Down & Up throw for chaingrabs\rbr+ New Side Special for extended recovery option and a great edgeguarding tool\rbr+ Mario Tornado strikes faster\rbr+ Fireballs have less ending lag & travels faster\rbr\rbrNerfs:\rbr- Dash attack deals less damageknockback\rbr- All tilts deal less damageknockback\rbr- Up Smash no longer the strongest & deals less damageknockback (surpassed by Pikachu, Fox, etc.)\rbr- Down Smash does less damage (16 in front, 1012 behind)\rbr- New Back Aerial does less damageknockback\rbr- Up aerial does 1 less damage and sourspot no longer combos into itself.\rbr- Down aerial does significantly less damage (from 24 in Smash 64 to 10 in Melee); Also hits 7 times instead of 8, and can no longer be setup into and up tilt or up aerial.
