The story revolves around the age-old conflict between br br religious ideology (represented by the term Khuda, meaning br br God) and human emotions (Mohabbat or Love) revolving in strict br br Islamic] families. Belonging to the society's elite, a young br br commerce graduate, Hammad (Imran Abbas Naqvi), encounters br br Imaan (Sadia Khan), the daughter of Moulvi Aleemuddin (Salman br br Shahid), who teaches Quran to the children of the vicinity and br br is also a Imam in a nearby Mosque. This encounter brings an br br immense change to Hammad's life. He leaves his house and br br family for Imaan. At one point, he gains employment as a br br porter and undertakes hard labour. He hopes the changes he br br makes, which include him finding religion and eventual br br spirituality will make him suitable for Imaan to her father. br br However his hopes and his transformation are in vain as Moulvi br br Aleem is unable to accept the concept of a love match for his br br daughter and to forgive the insult Hammad's family caused him br br when they realised Hammad loved Imaan. Imaan, meanwhile, is br br engaged to her cousin Abdullah (Ahmed Jahanzeb). She lives br br under the shadow of her domineering father, whom she dare not br br disobey. Imaan tells Hammad to return to his family, but he br br refuses. With an increasing sense of helplessness, Imaan br br becomes ever more stressed and eventually falls ill.
