Israel has allowed the transfer of 30,000 doses of a vaccine to prevent the spread of foot -and-mouth disease (FMD) in the blockaded Gaza Strip. FMD is a serious and highly infectious virus that affects mostly cattle and sheep. Although not usually fatal, and not a direct threat to humans it causes significant economic damage.
