#AskErin Episode 1 | How Do I Train Musicality? br br One of our subscribers had this question for us: br br There are dancers who are technically perfect, but it's not very fun to watch them. Yet there are also other dancers who aren't as perfect, but they're really on beat. How can you train this musicality? How can you become a better dancer? br br Erin's answers: br br This is a really subjective question as there is no one true way on how you can approach musicality. As compared to other musically-attuned bboys, Erin is not that good with the music. br br Musicality is like studying. So imagine that there are 2 types of students. br br Student 1 - The Crammer br br This is also Erin. He crams and memorizes everything. Study really hard, memorize the music, keep updating your music library, know what they play at jams and memorize when the beat is coming. You then plan your moves and mini-combos to the music structure and play along with it. br br Student 2 - The Passionate One br br He appreciates and understands the music structure. He knows the different layers of the music and types of instruments being played, how many counts of 8, breaks etc. br br Then you understand your movements. You know which move can match with which type of music, e.g drags, spins etc. Understand your arsenal well. br br Feel like you want to dance to the music. br br About Beat Camping br br Some bboys do this. It's not perfectly okay, but it's a good way to start learning musicality. These bboys dance and try to hit the ONE. It's the go-to beat for bboys to hit.
