The Phuket Bike Week Festival in Patong Phuket Thailand is a constant on the Phuket Island festival calendar. br br For the 22nd anniversary of the legendary event in Asia motorcyclist from over 30 countries gathered over the course of two consecutive weekends on the island of Phuket. The first leg of the festival opened its gates usually around Mid of of April in Patong Phuket. The Phuket Bike Week back in 1995 was the first of its kind on the island. 300 riders showed up at the Friendship beach in Rawai. Joining two local groups of bikers, like today most of the bikers where tourist visiting the island. br br According to the organizers today the Phuket Bike Week draws over 10 000 bikers each year. BMW, Yamaha, Bolt, Moto Guzzi and of course the mother of them all: Harley Davidson did not miss the opportunity to showcase their latest models. So did Honda, Triumph and many custom-made bikes were on display at the Loma Park in Patong. But you could also find military bikes or something as rare as the British old-timer Ariel, a British motorcycle manufacturer based in Bournbrook, Birmingham, Ariel Motorcycles was one of the leading innovators in British motorcycling. br br The usual food stalls lined up across the big stage with the barbecue grills and restaurants made out of hay balls. Entertaining was brought to you by either lasso-wielding or whip cracking of soon to be Thai cowboys. Also part of the Bike Week Patong is the selling of leather ware. From handmade belts, purses on a chain, from thin leather vests to full blown riding gear. Of course, the individual helmet finds its customer.
