Smart Fish Method Why and When Do You Teach Long Warrior?

*. In GRADE 6, 7, & 8... the Freestyle we teach them is DRILL FREESTYLE ONLY. LONG WARRIOR FREESTYLE is a drill. QUICK WARRIOR FREESTYLE is more like Full Stroke Freestyle. Save that for the level that is advanced enough to qualify for the Pre Competitive level or Advanced Grade 8. We do not teach the Synchronised Breath version of Freestyle until Grade 11. If swimmers do it naturally in Grade 9 or 10, without compromising their kick, we let it happen. However, we do not teach Freestyle with synchronised breath recovery until Grade 11 or Level 3. br *. You teach LONG WARRIOR, so that you can make sure their head is correct and their kick is correct... before doing the arm strokes section of the drill. br *. When forgetting to do LONG WARRIOR, the teacher does not have time to correct the student's posture, head position, and legs. br *. The Long Warrior Kick after each Quick Breath, before beginning the arm stroke helps to reestablish the head position and kick that were likely compromised during the pulling cycle. br *. More time should be spent on Quick Breathing, Warrior Kicking, and Sticky Arms before expecting her to do this drill by herself.
