Ireland elects first openly gay Prime Minister

Ireland’s ruling party chose Leo Varadkar as its new leader. Varadkar, son of an Indian immigrant, will become's Ireland's first openly gay PM, and the youngest person ever to hold the office.br Mr Varadkar, 38, beat his rival, Housing Minister Simon Coveney, with 60 of the votes. Varadkar is expected to be voted in as prime minister when parliament next sits on June 13.
