Officer Injured in Alexandria Shooting Throws Out First Pitch at Congressional Softball Game

pCapitol Police Officer Crystal Griner, who was injured while responding to the shooting during a Republican baseball practice in Alexandria last week, threw out the first pitch before the Congressional Women’s Softball Gamea on Wednesday, June 21.ppShe appeared in a wheelchair and was greeted with applause as she tossed the pitch to home plate. Griner, who was in US Rep. Steve Scalise’s security detail, was shot in the ankle as she defended Republican Congress members during the shootinga.ppA moment of silence was held for Scalise and others injured in the shooting before the game. The Republican majority whip was shot in the hip and was in critical condition when he arrived at the hospital.
