RAWALPINDI: After three deadly bombings – one in Quetta and two others in Kurram Agency’s Parachinar town – claiming over 50 lives and hurting more than hundred others, the Army’s media wing announced that security and surveillance along Pak-Afgan border have been beefed up.

Director General (DG) Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor made the announcement hours after two separate terror attacks besides a gun attack targeting police personnel in Karachi left four policemen dead.

“Recent terrorist incidents linked to sanctuaries across [Afghan border],” the DG ISPR said in a tweet.

Pakistan had blamed terrorist havens in Afghanistan for bloodshed on its soil. Earlier this year, officials of Afghan Embassy in Islamabad were summoned to the General Headquarters of the Pakistan (GHQ) and were handed over a list of 76 terrorists carrying out attacks inside Pakistani territory.

The Pak Army’s spokesperson further said: “Stringent action will be taken against illegal border-crossers.”
