After some of the most intense fighting in Syria’s second-largest city, the war has reached the walls and fences of a local zoo.ppThree lions, two tigers, two bears, and two hyenas from the Aleppo zoo are now being treated at a wildlife shelter in Turkey.ppAfter workers fled the city, the emaciated critters had been left to fend for themselves at the Magic World Zoo. Some animals did not survive the relentless bombing.ppA second rescue is planned to save the zoo’s remaining inhabitants.
