Turmeric powder br br For First tempering:- br 1 tbsp. Oil br ¼ tsp. Asafoetida br 1 tbsp. Ginger, garlic and green chilly, crushed br 2 onions, finely chopped br 1 tsp. Mustard seeds br 1 tomato, finely chopped br 1 tsp. Red chilli powder br 1 tsp. Coriander powder br Additional salt if required br br For Second tempering:- br 3 tbsp. Ghee br 1 tsp. Cumin seeds br 3 red chillies dried br 10 curry leaves br br Coriander leaves br br br Method:- br - Pressure cook the dal and rice by adding turmeric powder and salt. br - In a pan heat vegetable oil and splutter mustard seeds in it. Add asafoetida followed by onions and chillies. br - Once the onions turn translucent, add ginger-garlic paste and cook for 30-40 seconds. br - Add tomatoes, red chilli powder and coriander powder cooking for a minute. br - Whisk the cooked dal and rice nicely and add water to it. br - Transfer the boiled dal and rice to the tempering and cook until it starts bubbling. br - For the final tempering, melt ghee in a tempering vessel and add cumin seeds, dried red chillies and curry leaves. br - Once it splutters pour this tempering on top of the khichdi.
