Speaking before Makati businessmen on various issues including the territorial disputes in the South China Sea, Presidential candidate Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday said the Western allies like the US, Japan and Australia could have stopped the building of Chinese structures on the islands in a joint expedition with the Philippines a long time ago. "But everybody took their own sweet time," he said. He added historically, the islands on the South China Sea have always been ours.
