Their name is a pun on ninja and android. They first appeared in the non-canonical online game Smash Party and later its sequel, Viper Smash.Later, in Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu it was revealed that Zane is a robot, but Jay dubbed him as a Nindroid. In the third season of Ninjago, Rebooted, the Digital Overlord created an army of Nindroids, based on Zanes blueprints. In seasons 4 and 5, Cyrus Borg was also seen with security Nindroids. Echo Zane, a Nindroid based on Zanes blueprints, also made an appearance in season 5, Skybound.
