JK Rowling trolls Corbynite Paul Mason over 1980s tweet br AUTHOR JK Rowling lashed out and mocked Corbynista Paul Mason after he suggested the Labour Party conference reminds him of 1980 when left-wing Michael Foot was in charge. In response, JK Rowling said: “Which aspect of 1980 in particular, I wonder? Space invaders, stonewashed denim, Ashes to Ashes or the 17 years of Tory rule that followed?” In 1980, the Labour Party chose the outspoken, extremely left-wing MP Michael Foot to be its new leader.  Mr Foot was known for his strong socialist views and has been compared to Jeremy Corbyn. In 1983, he led the Labour Party to its worst electoral humiliation and gave the Tories under Margaret Thatcher a decisive electoral victory. The Conservatives got a landslide victory and their best result since 1935. The Labour Party only succeeded to regain power again in 1997 when Tony Blair became Prime Minister. Ms Rowling, the author of Harry Potter, has been a donor to the Labour Party, but is an outspoken critic of Mr Corbyn.  She also tweeted: “Incompetent clowns in power and the opposition turning into a solipsistic personality cult. I’m so ****ing depressed. Send otter pictures.”The Labour Party’s conference began in Brighton Park on Sunday, with supporters chanting “oh Jeremy Corbyn”. Mr Corbyn has told the conference he will use his grassroots support to become Prime Minister.  br br br br During the conference, Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell claimed a Labour government would cap credit card interest so no-one pays back more than twice the amount of their original borrowing. He said: “The last seven years of Tory economic failure has created the perfect storm, as wages have fallen behind, more and more families are being pushed deeper into debt.”. 00FastNews.
